I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later, but I'm still disappointed to report the tragic loss of AshCam. Having spent two hours sitting on the top of my mast videoing me blasting around Poole Harbour, then sitting for another hour with a full memory card, AshCam was treated to a high-speed catapult which pulled the mounting screws out and set AshCam free.
Rather unfortunately, the camera does not float, so AshCam, a 2Gb SD card and two rechargeable AA batteries are now sitting at the bottom of Poole Harbour. If anyone should pick it up while dredging the channel, please let me know ...
In the meantime, I'm going to have another look at the competition. At the time it was the tidiest, cheapest, most practical thing on the market, so watch this space.
